TAK Internation Ltd. started to promote the Enbridge name in China in 1994 when the company was still called Interprovincial Pipleline (IPL) at that time. The mandate for TAK was to promote the corporate name to the Chinese pipeline industry to position Enbridge for future investment opportunities. If we look back 20 plus years now, it is safe to say “Mission Accomplished” for what we set out to do. Over the years TAK has successfully concluded and carried out many pipeline technologies and operations related consulting, advisory service and training contracts for Enbridge with Chinese oil & gas pipeline companies including but not limited to PetroChina and SINOPEC. The impact to bring up the technical, operational and safety levels of those Chinese pipeline companies are huge, which is well recognized and valued by customers. Many of the trainees have climbed up the corporate ladder assuming senior management roles in these companies. The Enbridge training school is known to be the “Harvard” for pipeline operation training in the Chinese pipeline industry. Now TAK keeps receiving inquiries from Chinese pipeline companies for pipeline operator training, technical consulting and advisory services despite the fact Enbridge decided, for strategic reasons, to stop offering such services in 2014. The point is we have helped Enbridge build an everlasting corporate brand name in the Chinese pipeline industry for operation efficiency, safety and quality. It will be a huge advantage to Enbridge if the Board decides to look for investment opportunities in China some time down the road.
